Summer School

Starbucks's promotion ends today.
They should have it again sometime in the summer.
During the promotion, when you stopped by any Starbucks location from 3-5pm, you can see how people loveee the "Happy Hours" since they just have to pay half-price of any frappuchino!
My special order of mocha frap. with toffee nuts is now just $2.50!
WOOT!
But honestly i'm always using the coupons (a.k.a 'child support,' which are sent monthly from Hippo in Calif.! :D)

Summer school starts tomorrow.
I haven't bought any textbooks yet. I hope those classes don't require students to buy textbooks, but using online materials instead.
It makes sense because the 3 classes i'm taking this summer are… kind of 'developmental' and 'relaxed'!
One is College Skill, which is 1 credit. It's totally developmental, but considered as a requirement for any transferred student!
Next is the 2-credit-PED class. Can't wait for our outdoor adventures coming! Wooo! Finally i can get rid of the creepy instructor from PED116! :D
The other is Street Photography!
Yayyy!
This course should be interesting and fun.
After 6 weeks of studying Street Photography, hopefully i could do something bold in my so-far interest: photojournalism! :)

OK.
That's all for now!
Gotta come back to tumblr for travel, food, and black and white photography as well as inferior designs.
LOL
I was about to send a msg to my followings to tell them pleaseee stop posting those incredible food photos.
Honestly, they make me like "Awww" all the times.

one week before finals

Annapolis, M.D | photo by Bumbi

there will be no road trip this weekend and the following one!

homework and final reviews are killing me…arrr!
plus the weather is freaking crazy: 85 and up during the day and thunder in the night.
NO RAIN!

the 4th CHM exam, which covers the last 2 chapters of the book, starts at 9 on friday.
so i'm planning to spend at least 4-5 hours in tutoring session on wednesday, just right after i get out of HIS class. then i may go straight to work from 6 'til 10. thanks god, tony doesn't put me 6 hours on the wed's schedule. otherwise, imma dieee!

botany lab also has a final exam. however, it's kind of checking how well we've been doing so far. questions come from the previous lab quizzes, some microscopic displays, and diagram labels. i should study for it tomorrow when i get the 3th lab quiz back!
dang!
i feel like i'm running out of time!

goal for today is finishing all the homework in TRO's book.
i may print out worksheets and take a glance before going to the tutoring session tmr tho. it's all up to whether the melatonin level in my blood up or down tonight.

pizza planet

i just can't stop laughing when i imagine Hippo is racing his car on 210 Fwy to Palm Spring to deliver a hot and yummy pizza on time! i'm not sure whether he agrees to add Rex as "a toy that goes with the meal" or not, but it's probably a good idea!
:D

things i plan to do this summer

thinking about the 24th birthday which is held in Rolling Sushi always makes me super excited! really, it has been 4 or 5 years Hippo and I didn't celebrate a birthday together. I don't expect yellow roses or a huge cake with candles on my birthday, but a dinner with him in California this summer.
if everything happens as we've been planning, we'll have the dinner in August 11, exactly one month before my official day of birth! :D
since i have a tripod and a wireless remote controller for my EOS, a self-portrait for both of us on my birthday could be easily done. it'd be the first birthday picture we've ever had in California! yeyyy!
i'm also thinking that we may go to a LEGO store either before or after the dinner and grab the London Bridge set so that we could "build" the bricks all night long! it's supposed to be my birthday, rite? there's no reason we're gonna go to bed before midnite, except Hippo can't stand anymore and wanna do sth else! ^^

i often think about our long-distance relationship this way:
"just only […] months, and we're gonna be on a road trip, heading to […] and having fun under the sun!"

and trust me
it works
for more than 9 years!

phycist

dating a guy whose major in physics is a lot of fun!

first,

he always has a deep appreciation of science/technology.

second,

he never gives you a nerd question when you guys are discussing a bio-chemistry tissue. he basically knows what you are talking about :D

last but not least,

that nice, charming, sometimes-kind-of-weird guy may or may not tell you this, but he'd rather spend the whole life traveling and having fun with a funny, adorable, and BIG BONE biologist/ chemist than anything else.

(am i just pointing out someone's idea?)

Thank you for neverrr giving up on me…

Feb.15

okayyy…one test is down!!!
one more to go tmr.
good news: all botany class's students don't have to go to class on Thu. we'll go to the U.S Botanic Garden instead. yayyy!
i getto admit that i'm super excited for this field trip. if you're my homie, you'll know how much i love botanic illustration as well as microbiology, which requires you work with microscope, slides, and cells all the time! :]
nothing is more interesting than looking at a cell/ root/ stem/ leaf with all the tissues thru a compound microscope then draw down what you see from the slide on a paper. though sometimes you have to stain a tissue to make it stand out, this process just makes your tissue look much more awesome!
Staining takes your time.
And if you're not a clever person, you may screw up the whole slide and have to prepare another one. Cutting or peeling a piece of tissue also challenges you. But when you get familiar with all the process, you'd rather pick up every single living organism out there, put it on your slide, and experiment every details.
i'm not sure if i have ever told you that i started to think about the relationship of photography and microbiology… every time i see a cell/ bacteria/ fungi figure in my book, i'm like: "damn, how could they make it incredibly beautiful and obvious like this?"
:]

i'll definitely show you how wonderful those tiny things look like as soon as i get a compound microscope.
i promise!
:D

Feb.10

  • A long and hard weekend with essay, review, and homework is expected to come up: paper for history class, quiz for botany class, and homework for chemistry class.
  • In the middle of the week, we'll have a field trip to National Botanic Garden in DC. Yayyy! Sounds like a short break before a heavy Friday with Chem. lecture and lab (actually every Fri. is a heavy one!)
  • The weather just gets worse and worse over time. It was 28 degrees last night with light snow. Today it's going up a lil' bit to 30 degrees, plus winds! Putting sodium chloride on the roads helps melting the ice, but it also makes the environment suck-er. I learned this from Dr. Burton, my CHM112 instructor. LOL
  • Brrrrrr… I think I may move to somewhere warmer (Corona Del Mar?); or I need a North Face tri-climate jacket if I plan to be a Virginian for the next 5 -10 years.

Dear Hippo,

Have you ever thought
Someday you'll have a profile picture looks like this,
Which is photographed, developed, enlarged, processed, and hand-finished by your wife?

Feb.1

I've been spending a lot of time hanging out and traveling with this super-nice guy since 2002. There are 2 more weeks 'til our 9th Valentine's Day… and I realize that I'm still TRULLY, MADLY, DEEPLY in love with him!
